1967 drunk drivers jailed

City Traffic Police caught 1,967 persons driving vehicles in a drunken condition till July 20 and produced them in the III and IV Metropolitan Magistrate Courts, Nampally. The Courts awarded imprisonment to 388 accused and permanently cancelled/suspended their licences.

The courts imposed fine and collected an amount of Rs 42,43,900 on the remaining 1518 Traffic violators. All the convicts were lodged in Chanchalguda Jail. The drive against drunken driving and other violations will continue for the safety of the commuters on road, the police said.
