28 killed as tourist bus overturns on Portuguese island

Twenty-eight people including German nationals were killed when a tourist bus crashed on the Portuguese island of Madeira yesterday, local officials said. The German embassy in Lisbon confirmed that a number of its nationals were among the dead, without giving any figures. Filipe Sousa, mayor of Santa Cruz where the accident happened, said 17 women and 11 men were killed in the crash, and another 21 injured.
