Golconda Diamond Auction

300-year-old Golconda’s Blue diamond to be auctioned in May

The 6.16-carat blue diamond that was mined from the Golconda mines at least 300 years ago is likely to go on auction in Switzerland in May. It is expected to fetch up to $5.2 million (Rs 34 crore).

The diamond, known as the Farnese Blue diamond, was first presented to Queen of Spain Elisabeth Farnese. Later, the diamond passed down through royal families in Spain, Italy, Austria, and France.
