68 killed in riots at Venezuelan police station

More then 68 persons are said to have been killed during rioting and a fire in the cells of a Venezuelan police station, officials said.

The blaze is said to have started after several prisoners were reported to have set fire to several mattresses in their bid to break out of the prison.

Prisoners in the generally overcrowded jails in Venezuela openly use machine guns, grenades and drugs ignoring the hapless guards.
