All arrangements are in place for the second main bath of Kumbh Mela on the occasion of Paush Purnima in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, tomorrow. The mela administration made traffic diversion from this morning and only emergency services will be allowed to enter the mela area. Paush Purnima is considered to be auspicious and it marks the beginning of month-long Kalp Vas at Kumbh mela.
Throughout the Kalp Vas period, lakhs of people will be staying at small tents near the Sangam for a month to take bath thrice daily and eat only once in a day. It is believed that if one follows the Kalp Vas ritual faithfully, it cleanses the mind and soul.
49 day Kumbh Mela began on Tuesday with a record crowd of 2.25 Crore devotees participating in the first Shahi Snan of Akharas on Makar Sankranti. There are six main bathing dates including three Shahi Snans. Next two shahi snans are scheduled on Mauni Amavasya on 4th February and Basant Panchmi on 10th February.
