40 pieces of statues and allied objects, mostly used in worship, have been recovered from the bed of the Brahmaputra at Uzanbazar area of Guwahati in Assam. Police sources said, the valuable statues and objects were recovered by a joint team of police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF). The origin of the objects and other related issues are being investigated.
The idols were first spotted by a local person while bathing in the river on Saturday, who informed the local Latasil police station. Meanwhile, the DGP announced cash awards to police and SDRF personnel involved in the recovery.
