Indian shuttler B. Sai Praneeth stormed into the final of Swiss Open tournament at Basel last night. World number 22 Praneeth defeated world number five and reigning Olympic champion Chen Long of China 21-18, 21-13 in the semifinal. While the first game was tight, the Indian shuttler completely dominated the second, ending the match in 46 minutes.
It was Praneeth’s first win over Chen Long in three attempts. Praneeth will now fight it out with top seed Chinese Shi Yuki in the final today. India’s challenge in China Masters has ended. In the men’s singles semifinal yesterday evening, Asian junior champion Lakshya Sen lost to Hongyang Weng of China at Lingshui.
