Actor-turned-politician Nandamuri Balakrishna is believed to have suggested to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu that Telugu Desam Party (TDP) should continue its alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) till the end of the year.
Balakrishna, who is also fondly addressed as Balayya Babu, has advised Chandrababu that TDP should continue to be in the NDA alliance, when the latter asked his opinion on the matter.
It is surprising to note that at a time when most of the TDP MLAs had wanted to pull out of the alliance, Balakrishna had expressed his opinion in the opposite. This conflicting opinions has put a stress on Naidu as elections are just round the corner.
Informed sources feel that Balakrishna has given such an opinion because he is afraid that the central government may pull the plug and slap legal cases against the Nandamuri and Narra families to destabilise their political positions in the state.
Meanwhile, Balakrishna has announced that a biopic on Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao will be launched on March 29 in Hyderabad. For this purpose, the actor-politician has already invited Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu, who has agreed to grace the event.
It is believed that Balayya originally thought of inviting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, he dropped the idea after TDP-BJP relations soured.
