Telangana State Cabs and Bus Operators Association (TSCBOA) thanked Director General of Police M. Mahender Reddy for centralizing issuing of police permits for operators.
In a media statement on Monday, TSCBOA President Syed Nizamuddin said that DGP Mr. Mahender Reddy and Additional DGP Mr. Jithender positively responded to a representation made by the Association seeking centralization of police permits.
Earlier, to carry out contract carriage services for customers in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits, the operators were required to take separate permissions from Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda Police Commissionerates. Each time, the operators were required to submit a set of documents running over 120 pages. The entire process involved a lot of manpower, time and resources. Sometimes it was also leading to corruption at lower levels, informed Nizamuddin.
Further, the TSCBOA chief said, in some cases, no Commissionerate wanted to be the first to give permission. Despite having district-wise permits for Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, and Medchal and paying Road Taxes accordingly, the operators were facing problems.
“We are extremely grateful to the DGP and other senior police officials for centralizing the police permits. They responded to our plea within no time in a highly pro-active manner. They have set an example for the entire country on industry-friendly policing and ‘Ease of Doing Business’. Issuing of police permits through Single Window System has not only reduced the burden from operators, but it will now help them focus on growing their business and revenues,” said Syed Nizamuddin.
