Collapsing pavement swallows women in southeast Turkey

Two women were injured in the southeast Turkish province of Diyarbakir on Wednesday after a sidewalk they were standing on collapsed. A doctor and a nurse were injured when the pavement collapsed beneath them. CCTV footage showed the pair walking along before the ground gives way. The women plunged into a hole below, with concrete and debris falling on top of them.

Both women fell into the hole, but only sustained minor injuries. Several people can be seen jumping into the hole to lift the rubble off them and help them back to street level before an ambulance arrives to administer first aid.
