After the dissolution of Telangana assembly on Thursday, the Election Commission has called on meeting today to discuss over early polls in the state. In the meeting, the EC will decide whether to hold the elections in the state immediately or along with the four other states like Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan. However, the decision might be taken after analyzing all the aspects by EC.
Keeping in view the aspects like festivals and examinations in the state, the EC will take a decision on holding the elections, said a senior official of Election Commission. KCR government has dissolved the assembly eight months before the election date in June 2019.
A cabinet resolution was also submitted to the governor ESL Narasimhan who accepted it and asked the chief minister KCR to continue as caretaker CM. According to rules, the Election Commission has six months to complete the polling process in a state starting from the date of dissolution of the assembly.
