A massive fire engulfed an ancient National Museum, destroying priceless artefacts dating back centuries in Rio de Janeiro which is one of the most popular cities in Brazil. A massive fire has ripped through a 200-year-old museum in Rio de Janeiro, sending large plumes of smoke into the air.
Taking the information from locals, firefighters tried to save historical relics from the flames. The museum officials said the esteemed National Museum in northern Rio, which houses 20,000 artefacts from not only Brazil but also various other countries, was closed to the public at the time of the fire. They said the blaze began around 7.30pm local time and the reason how the fire began it is not yet known. There were no reports of injuries.
