First CJ of Telangana HC sworn in, Justice Radhakrishnan takes charge

Justice T.B.N Radhakrishnan took oath this morning as the Chief Justice of the newly formed Telangana High Court. Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan has administered the oath of office to the Chief Justice. Chief Minister of Telangana K Chandrasekhar Rao, justices of the Telangana High Court and senior officials attended the ceremony held on the lawns of the Raj Bhawan in Hyderabad.

Following a notification by the centre, the bifurcation of the High Court of the Judicature at Hyderabad has come into effect from today. The gazette notification said January 1 would be the appointed day for the Andhra Pradesh High Court which will start functioning from Amaravati while the High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad will become the High Court for Telangana.

Meanwhile, about 900 employees left for Amaravati in special buses as their Telangana counterparts saw them off. Some employees turned emotional on leaving Hyderabad. The employees and lawyers of Andhra Pradesh at the High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad on Monday reached Andhra Pradesh’s capital Amaravati.
