In Uttar Pradesh, four people have been arrested in connection with yesterday’s violence in Syana area of Bulandshahar district. One police inspector and a villager had died in the incident. Talking to reporters in Lucknow today, ADG law and Order Anand Kumar said, four to five people have also been detained for interrogation, while the main accused Yogesh Raj is still absconding. Efforts are on to nab him.
FIRs have also been lodged at the Syana police station against 27 other people and 50 to 60 unknown people under various sections of Indian Penal Code. ADG Intelligence SV Shirodkar today visited the Syana. The situation is now under control in Syana, with heavy police deployed in the area.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the situation last night. He announced an ex-gratia of 50 lakh rupees for the family of the Inspector. The Chief Minister has directed the Additional Director General of Intelligence to file a report within 48 hours.
He said, after getting the report, stern action will be taken against those responsible for the incident. The Special Investigation Team, under the supervision of IG Range Meerut, has already been formed to probe the violence.
