Heavy Rain In Kerala, 4 Died Due to Landslide

27 people have been killed due to heavy rain since the southwest monsoon hit Kerala. A 9-year-old girl was killed among the three who died in a landslide today in Kattipara village in Thamarassery. Around 10 people are suspected to be missing in Kozhikode.

Hilly areas of Malappuram, Wayanad witnessed landslides and several districts of Kerala, including Kozhikode, Alappuzha has reported waterlogging.

Today schools were closed in Alappuzha, Kottayam, Wayanad & Kozhikode. Several other educational institutions too shall remain closed today in worst-affected regions of these districts.

In Kerala hundreds of houses have damaged in the rains, officials at the disaster management department said. Landslips & damaged roads were reported from Wayanad, Kozhikode, Idukki districts.

Officials said that the Bharathapuzha, one of the major rivers in the state, is in full spate, so are the Bhavani and Siruvani rivers.

45 relief camps have been set up across Kerala to ensure the safety of people living in waterlogged areas.
