Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 5th India International Science Festival, IISF this evening. He will address the gathering, being held in Kolkata, through video conference. The theme for this year’s festival is RISEN India – Research, Innovation and Science Empowering the Nation. The prime objective of IISF is to instil scientific temper among people, showcase India’s contribution in the field of Science and Technology and encourage translation of its benefits to people.
It aims to build a strategy for inclusive advancement of Science and Technology. Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr. Harsh Vardhan will also be present in Kolkata during inaugural ceremony. The four-day long Festival aims at building a strategy for inclusive advancement of Science and Technology. The festival is being organized since 2015 to celebrate country’s Scientific and Technological progress with Scientists, Students and Innovators.
This is an attempt to encourage young minds towards science and promote networking of stakeholders working for propagation of science. Special role of Women Scientists and Entrepreneurs in shaping the scientific growth of the country will be highlighted at the Festival.
A Science Village will also be inaugurated where more than 2, 500 Students from different parts of the Nation will be housed. Around 12,000 people from country and abroad are expected to take part in more than 28 events at the four-day long extravaganza.
