IIT study claims Indus civilisation got wiped out after 900-yr drought

In an interesting research on the Indus Valley Civilisation, researchers at IIT-Kharagpur have claimed that the civilization got wiped out over 4,000 years ago due to the severe drought that lasted at least 900 years.

The 900 year drought completely dried the rivers along which the Indus civilization flourished.

This forced the inhabitants to move into regions having better rain conditions and that is towards the east and south. Earlier, several researchers believed the drought lasted about 200 years.
