The tirumal Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) has taken another controversial decision to hand over the responsibility of counting the hundi collections, known as ‘parakamani counting’, amounting to crores of rupees to a private company.

On coming to know of this decision, devotees have faulted the TTD’s decision.

At present, retired government officials and banks officers do the counting of the hundi collections that include gold, silver ornaments and currency notes and coins.

The activity of hundi collection counting takes place in parakamani chamber near the sanctum sanctorum of Lord Venkateswara. The retired officials perform the counting activity as part of their devotion and seva to the Lord Venkateswara.

The TTD is believed to have taken this decision as its employees are not showing any interest in the activity.
