India on verge of series sweep as South Africa crumble again

In the ICC World Cricket Championship, India closed in on a 3-0 whitewash of South Africa by reducing the visitors to 132 for eight in their second innings at stumps on day three of the third and final Test in Ranchi. Theunis de Bruyn on 30 and Anrich Nortje five will resume South Africa’s second innings tomorrow. Dean Algar retired hurt when his score was 16.

They are still trailing by 203 runs. Proteas today lost 16 wickets after resuming the day at nine for two in their first innings. Visitors were all out for 162. India had made 497 for nine declared in their first innings after electing to bat.

The hosts took a first-innings lead of 335 runs, with Umesh Yadav taking three wickets and Mohammad Shami, Shahbaz Nadeem and Ravindra Jadeja claiming two each.  In the second innings, Shami took three wickets followed by Yadav two and Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin one each.
