The countdown has begun for the showpiece match of the Asia Cup 2018. After winning their opening games against Hong Kong, India and Pakistan will take on each other in the most anticipated fixture of the Asia Cup. The two teams will once again resume their rivalry today at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium when the two teams lock horns in the Group A match. Since 2008, the arch-rivals haven’t played against each other in bilateral series. Hence, they continue to battle it out in ICC events which have offered quite a few mouth-watering contests in the past.
Looking back at the history of India-Pakistan contests, the latter certainly hold the edge. The numbers sway in favour of Pakistan even in matches played in the UAE – earlier several of the matches between the two teams would be played at Sharjah. However, despite Pakistan prevailing over India in the ICC Champions Trophy Final, it is India who have dominated their neighbour in recent times; India have prevailed in 7 of the 11 occasions they have come up against Pakistan in this decade.
