Indian Army Is Preparing to Buy Israeli ‘Spike’ Missile

To further strengthen anti-tank capability against its arch-enemy Pakistan, India is now going to order to buy Israeli spike missile. On condition of anonymity, the person who knew the matter told this. Before the arrival of the indigenous anti-tank missile within the next three years from the DRDO, the Indian Army wants to buy this spike missile immediately to end the interval of some time.

The person said that this whole process of purchase is currently in the advanced stage and is awaiting the approval of the Government of India. He has asked not to disclose his name because the information has not been made public at this time.

The person said that considering the urgent need of the army, this anti-tank guided missile made by Israeli company Rafael Advanced Defence Systems Limited can be ordered this year. A spokesperson for Rafael in Israel said that such a deal is being discussed at this time but no comment can be made on this until it gets stamped.

After the long-running purchase process, India had postponed plans to buy a spike missile worth $ 500 million in January 2018. This decision was made before the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to New Delhi. After this Netanyahu raised this issue during his bilateral talks to Indian counterpart PM Narendra Modi in his tour. Later Netanyahu told reporters that negotiations on the deal are in progress.
