The Department of Income Tax seized at least two bank accounts of former BJP leader and present Punjab’s Congress party Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu on the issue of non-payment of taxes.
The former Indian cricketer’s tax dues are Rs. 52 lakh, payments amounting to Rs. 28,38,405 towards dress expenses, Rs. 38,24,282 tour and traveling expenses , Rs. 47,11,400 toward salary expense and Rs. 17,80,358 toward petrol and diesel expenses.
The IT officials said Sidhu failed to submit documentary evidences like bills or invoices in support of his claim during the assessment proceedings.
As Sidhu could not provide the authenticity of most of the transactions, the IT officials disallowed 30% of the total expenses to prevent further leakage of revenue.
