The Income Tax searches continued for the second day in the office of the TDP parliamentarian CM Ramesh in Hyderabad. I-T officials are verifying records at his office in Sagar Society in Hyderabad. Nearly 60 taxmen are taking part in searches in the office of Rajya Sabha MP. The searches started yesterday morning and may continue till tomorrow. On Friday, Income Tax tax officials in large number searched the homes and offices of CM Ramesh.
Including Hyderabad, Searches were conducted in multiple locations at the residences of CM Ramesh in Kadapa district in Andhra Pradesh. CM Ramesh, however, termed the raids “political vendetta”. “It is a clear-cut case of political vendetta. In fact, the Prime Minister himself warned us right inside parliament about consequences since we have been fighting for the state’s rights. The IT raids are a result of the warning,” said CM Ramesh who is in Delhi.
The TDP broke away from the Narendra Modi-led NDA earlier this year over the centre’s refusal to grant special status to Andhra Pradesh. Mr Ramesh was among the lawmakers from the party who protested in parliament, escalating their demand for special category status to Andhra Pradesh.
