Now in Karnataka, separate flag demand is going on. Kannadees demand and fighting for separate flag. The government of India is not accepting for this demand because there is no provision in the Indian Constitution for a state flag. But the people of Karnataka wants separate flag. State government appointed a nine-member committee on June 6 to examine legal issues around the demand. The recommendations of the committee government of Karnataka will take a decision.
Janata Dal party leader H D Kumaraswamy said that the Congress government is using this issue to divert focus from recent controversies like government of Karnataka gives special facilities to Sasikala in jail.
In 2014, Patil Puttappa, old veteran journalist and Kannada activist, and Bheemappa Gundappa, old RTI activist, raise a demand for an official flag for Karnataka. Same issue was arrived at the time of BJP rule in Karnataka. BJP refused the peoples demand.
Present only Jammu and Kashmir have own flag because of its special status.
