The Karnataka state coalition government has slipped into further crisis today after the resignation of eight Congress and three JD(S) MLAs. Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker Ramesh Kumar has confirmed that his personal secretary received resignation letters of 11 MLAs today in his chamber. Saying that there was no prior intimation of MLAs visit to his office today, Ramesh Kumar informed that he will look into the resignation letters on Tuesday.
Anand Singh of Congress had submitted his resignation letter a few days back. The Congress with a strength of 79 MLAs has extended support to the JD(S) which has 37 MLAs of its own to form the coalition Government. In the total strength of 225 members in the Assembly, the present Government has the support of 117 members including an Independent.
