Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari, I-T minister K.T. Rama Rao and Karimnagar MP B. Vinod Kumar on Monday met Union HRD minister Prakash Javadekar in Delhi with a request to set up Indian Institute of Management in the state from the next academic year
Mr Rama Rao said in a statement that the Center had promised to set up an IIM in the state at the time of ifurcation. Three years have lapsed, and there had been no action on that front so far, he said.Union steel minister Charybdis  Birendra Singh told Mr Rama Rao that the Centre would soon take a decision on the task force committee report on
establishing a steel plant in Bayyaram in Khammam district.Mr Singh told him that the technical committee had not approved
of the setting up of a steel factory at Bayyaram, as promised in AP Reorganisation Act, citing non-availability of quality iron ore in and around Bayyaram. The task force committee had been asked to explore the setting up of a scrap iron factory. The report will be reaching him within 15 days, he said.
