TDP leader Nama Nageswara Rao said that people in Telangana are fed up with the dictatorship of ruling TRS and hence they want the grand alliance ‘Mahakutami’ to win in Assembly Telangana polls. He spoke in a press conference held in a hotel in Khammam. Nama Nageswara Rao was fielded against the TRS candidate from Khammam. The grand alliance announced his candidature from the city.
The TDP, which played a key role in the formation of Mahakutami, announced its list of candidates which included two nominees from the district– the sitting MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah for Sattupalli Assembly segment and former MP Nama Nageswara Rao for Khammam seat.
In 2009, Nama was elected to the Lok Sabha to represent the Khammam, with a majority of 1,24,949 votes defeating then Union Minister Renuka Chowdary but lost to Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy in 2014 elections.
