India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in Mumbai and its suburbs in the next 24 hours. In the wake of IMD’s forecast, Mumbai police have urged people to take precautions and ensure safety. Rains have taken a breather in Mumbai, Thane and Palghar districts today after heavy downpour last night. Many areas have been experiencing nice bright and sunny day.
However, precautionary measures still remain in place as fishermen have been warned not to venture into sea. It is noteworthy that Mumbai has received 84 percent of its average July rain in the last eight days. The heavy downpour has been attributed to the cyclonic circulation, because of which isolated heavy rains is likely to occur in the city and suburbs over the next 48 hours.
