NEW DELHI: Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu has differed with former late Jawaharlal Nehru in the matter of religion and its importance. On Monday, at the Indian Institute of Integrative Medical in Jammu, Naidu paid tributes to Nehru for his push to science and technology as an integral part of the national planning and stated his differences with a former PM on the issue of religion.
“Scientific advances may illuminate our understanding of the universe. But it is the religion which provides answers to the unexplored universe.” Naidu said.
He also said,” The issues of mind and soul and the relentless internal unrest and lack of internal peace constitute this vast unexplored universe. It is the religion which provides some answers to these raging issues.”
Naidu further stated that Nehru’s emphasis on scientific temper and his outlook on religion may make him agnostic and some may even call him an atheist.
