New Zealand opt to bat first against India in World Cup semi-final

The first Semi Final match in the ICC Cricket World Cup between India and New Zealand is underway, at Old Trafford in Manchester. After winning the toss, New Zealand elected to bat first. Pacer Mohammad Shami has not got a place in India Eleven this time while spinner Yuzvenra Chahal has returned in place of Kuldip Yadav.

Both teams are facing each other for the first time in this tournament after the league game between the two sides got washed out without a ball being bowled in Birmingham. Two-time champions and table toppers India will be looking to book a berth for the Final in today’s match.

This is the seventh time India is playing in a World Cup semi-final while New Zealand is featuring in their 8th one. The second semi-final match will be played between England and Australia in Birmingham on Thursday. The final is slated for Sunday at the Lord’s in London.
