No need for commercial licence to drive autos, taxis

The central government has done away with the requirement of commercial licences to drive auto-rickshaws, e-rickshaws and taxis allowing commercial drivers to use their personal licences.

However, the commercial licence will still be required for driving trucks, buses and other heavy commercial vehicles.

Government officials said the move is likely to increase employment opportunities for drivers.
