The 78-year-old Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit is in trouble again.
On Tuesday, during a press conference at the Raj Bhavan in Chennai to clear his name from the controversy regarding a professor being arrested in the ‘sex for degrees’ case, Governor Banwarilal Purohit patted his way into a fresh row when he patted the cheek of a female journalist and that too without her consent in an attempt to dodge her question.
The incident took place when Banwarilal was about to leave the venue of the crowded press conference.
The woman journalist, who apparently works with TheWeek newsmagazine, later tweeted: “I asked TN Governor Banwarilal Purohit a question as his press conference was ending. He decided to patronisingly – and without consent – pat me on the cheek as a reply.”
The journalist, identified as Lakshmi Subramanian called Banwarilal action as an unprofessional behavior.
Lakshmi then tweeted: Washed my face several times. Still not able to get rid of it. So agitated and angered Mr Governor Banwarilal Purohit. It might be an act of appreciation by you and grandfatherly attitude. But to me you are wrong.”
