To mark the second anniversary of the Surgical strikes, carried out by the Indian army against terror camps across the Line of Control, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the Parakram Parv at the Combined Commanders’ Conference in Jodhpur. The Army on September 29, 2016 had announced that it carried out the cross-border strikes, days after several Indian soldiers were martyred in a pre-dawn terrorist attack on the Army Headquarters in Jammu and Kashmir’s Uri.
Prime Minister Modi paid homage to the martyrs at the Konark war memorial. PM Modi was accompanied by Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje. Konark Corps organised the exhibition on Indian Army’s combat capability on the occasion. Soldiers doing various drills in combat gear paid their homage at Prerna Sthal, the war memorial of Sapta Shakti Command. Parakram Parv is being celebrated to highlight the valour and accomplishments of the Indian Army.
