Prithvi Shaw becomes second youngest Indian Test centurion after Sachin

Winner of the Under19 ICC World Cup for India as captain, Prithvi Shaw didn’t take long in making his arrival in Test cricket count as he bagged a century for the country on Day 1 of the first Test against West Indies. In doing so, Shaw became the second youngest player for India to score a century on his debut after Sachin Tendulkar.

While skipper Virat Kohli had announced the news of Shaw making a debut, the 18-year-old became the second youngest opener to make Test debut for India after Vijay Mehra, who was 17 years 265 days old when he had played his first Test at Bombay’s Brabourne Stadium against New Zealand in December 1955.
