Ace Indian shuttler P V Sindhu lifted the prestigious season-ending World Tour Finals trophy at Guangzhou, China, on Sunday. Sindhu made history, becoming the first Indian to win the BWF World Tour Finals tournament. The Olympic silver medallist defeated Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara 21-19, 21-17 in the summit clash.
Sindhu accomplished the feat after losing seven successive summit clashes. She had also won silvers at the Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and World Championships this year. Expressing happiness at her victory, Sindhu said, the year has ended on a beautiful note.
Badminton Association of India President Himanta Biswa Sarma congratulated Sindhu on her historic win. Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu have congratulated ace shuttler P V Sindhu on winning the BWF Tour title.
In a statement, Mr Naidu expressed happiness over Sindhu’s historic victory and wished her many such successes in future. Moreover, the Badminton Association Of India(BAI) has also announced a cash reward of 10 lakh rupees for P V Sindhu for winning the women’s singles championship.
