Rahul Gandhi today officially resigned as Congress President. Posting his resignation letter on his twitter handle, Mr Gandhi said, it was an honour for him to serve the party, whose values and ideals have served as the lifeblood of the nation. In his resignation letter, Mr Gandhi said, he is responsible for his Congress’ defeat in Lok Sabha elections.
He said, accountability is critical for the future growth of Congress and therefore, he is resigning as party president. Mr Gandhi said, his fight has never been a battle for political power and he has no hatred or anger towards the BJP. Earlier, talking to reporters outside Parliament, Mr Gandhi said, the party’s working committee should meet immediately to decide on his successor.
