“It is customary to cut cake and celebrate an occasion in corporate setup by the corporate world. But, SIP Academy, which imparts life skills to the kids for the past 15years, has decided not do that and instead create an awareness on the importance of trees to children from very young age. A socially conscious corporate celebration indeed”, Principal Secretary of Industries & IT Department Jayesh Ranjan has said.
SIP Academy staff and 3,000 students participated in a two-kilometre Awareness Walk on Sunday morning to make people aware of the importance of Neem, Amla and Mango trees. The walk was organized as part of the Haritha Haram with the support of the GHMC. Some 3,000 students participated and two lakh saplings were distributed. Jayesh Ranjan distributed three saplings to each kid to take them home and plant them in their house or surroundings.
The children raised slogans like “We Plant Trees for our Future”, “Plant Tress Save Earth”, “Trees are a green gold”, “Go Green or else Go red” and so on.
Speaking on the occasion, Jayesh Ranjan said it is an important habit to be cultivated in children from very early age. Planting trees is everybody’s responsibility. Haritha Haram, a large scale planting program is a revolution created by Telangana Government to increase forest cover from present 24 percent to 33percent, he said. Making kids plant trees for their future is an excellent idea, he added.
Uma Swaminathan, State Head of SIP Academy said they were nurturing intelligence in kids for the common good.
