The Telangana High Court yesterday refused to stay the Lok Sabha election in Nizamabad constituency. The petition seeking stay was filed by over a dozen farmers. It also adjourned the final hearing of the case for two weeks. The farmers, who are candidates themselves from Nizamabad wanted the election to be postponed.
They said that due process was not followed while allotting symbols to them. 178 farmers are contesting from Nizamabad to protest against low prices for their produce. Meanwhile, State Chief Electoral Officer Dr Rajat Kumar informed that all arrangements are in place for the polling to be held on 11th of this month. 34,604 polling stations have been set up for over 2 crore 96 lakh electors.
