Even as the budget session of the Indian parliament convened after a short recess, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) members of parliament (MPs) have intensified their stir for a special status to Andhra Pradesh (AP) and the several promises made by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to the people of AP at the time of the bifurcation of the united AP.
The MPs already passed an adjournment motion and are prepared to stall the proceedings in the parliament.
TDP MPs are also planning to stage a dharna in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue outside the parliament today.
YSRCP stages protest over special status in Delhi
Meanwhile, the YSR Congress Party has to take the Special Category Status (SCS) fight by staging a massive dharna in New Delhi today.
A huge gathering of YSRCP workers, supporters, intellectuals and general public came together for the dharna at Sansad Marg in New Delhi.
MPs, MLAs and MLCs of YSRCP have made it a point to participate in this dharna to stress on the need of SCS and not Special Package as being propogated by Anhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
YSRCP’s senior leader Ummareddy Venkateswarulu is leading the party workers in the public meeting that was arranged at the venue. All MPs, MLAs and MLCs who participated in the dharna voiced out that it was YSRCP Chief YS Jagan who has been relentlessly fighting for Special Category Status (SCS) for AP for the last five years.
YSRCP has decided to continue the fight for SCS in Parliament till March 21.
Jagan’s party will also move no confidence motion against the NDA government.
