Expressing his displeasure over the Modi government for not releasing sufficient funds for Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said, “The way they’re talking, saying ‘this is how much we will give’, is…an insult to the state.”
Chandrababu then slammed Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, saying, “When we asked for help…you (Jaitley) spoke as though we’re asking all money at the cost of Defence of the country.”
Chandrababu Naidu then said he and his party leaders had tried to inform Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the resignation of two of TDP’s minister from the union cabinet, but he was unavailable.
He then said he had remained patient for four years and even visited Delhi 29 times over the issue, but the BJP government didn’t pay heed.
Reacting to Chandrababu’s decision of pulling out of NDA government, BJP leader KS Rao said, “What has happened…is a classic case of political opportunism and a case of compulsive politics.”
He then added, “Chandrababu Naidu ji’s statement that Central govt is not standing up to support Andhra Pradesh is a blatant lie.”
However, Chandrababu tweeted: “The Centre has been taking one sided decisions and our patience has run out now. When the purpose of joining the union cabinet hasn’t been fulfilled, it’s best to resign now. . . I am not angry with anyone. This decision has been taken only to benefit the people of Andhra Pradesh. . . I tried reaching out to the Prime Minister to inform him about our decision. But sadly, he was unavailable. . . It’s a crucial time. We have to stand, we have to fight, we have to get it done.”
