Three killed in fire-cracker blast in Rajahmundry

A fire-cracker blast that happened in the early hours of Saturday in Lalacheruvu area of Rajahmundry town, claimed the lives of three people including a minor boy. According to Rajahmundry police, the incident took place in Subbaraopeta area of Lalacheruvu in a thatched hut, which was occupied by a family of six. Police said, “As of now, three are dead, the other three are undergoing treatment at Rajahmundry Government General Hospital.”

According to police, preliminary probe suggests that the family of Muthyala Reddy was making crackers for Deepavali festival with certain explosive materials at home. When asked about the reason behind the accident, the police  said, “It is being investigated,  whether it happened due to a short circuit.” The deceased were identified as Muthyala Reddy’s mother Suryakantham (60), wife Dhanalakshmi (35) and son Vinay Reddy (16).
