Vice President Venkaiah Naidu to visit Paraguay and Costa Rica

Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu will embark on a two-nation tour of Paraguay and Costa Rica on Tuesday. This is the first high-level visit from India to both the countries. The Vice President will be accompanied by a high-level delegation including Minister of State for Tourism, KJ Alphons, Members of Parliament and senior government officials. Mr Naidu will meet with President of Paraguay, Mario Abdo Benítez, Vice President Hugo Velázquez, among other dignitaries.

He will also address the India-Paraguay business forum and interact with the Indian diaspora in Paraguay. In the second leg of his tour, the Vice President will meet President of Costa Rica, Carlos Alvarado Quesada, First Vice President, Epsy Campbell Barr as well as President of Congress Carolina Hidalgo Herrera. He will address the prestigious University of Peace, established under the auspices of the United Nations with a specific mandate of furthering the agenda of peace.

He will deliver the keynote address at the India-Costa Rica business forum and meet with the Indian community. Mr Naidu’s visit to the two countries is to advance India’s outreach to the important countries in the region. This visit will provide an opportunity to provide impetus to bilateral relations in trade and investment, Information and Communication Technology, renewable energy including hydel, education, healthcare, space and people to people linkages.
