War footing restoration work underway in cyclone-hit Odisha

The relief, repair, and restoration work is going on a war footing in cyclone-hit Odisha. The rural water supply schemes in Bhadrak and Kendrapada districts have been fully restored. In Jajapur, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack and Khurda districts 50% of the rural pipe water supply units have been operational by yesterday.  Within next 7 days all units will be restored. Till yesterday Out of 2364 affected rural pipe water schemes, 1784 have been repaired and restored.

3 Mobile Water treatment plants have been sent to Mahakalapada, Astaranga and Kakatapur to provide safe drinking water to people. Three Gram Panchayats of each blocks will be awarded with cash of 5 lakh, 3 lakh and 2 lakh rupees for best relief, rescue and restoration work in Puri district. In Odisha Cyclone FANI has caused huge damage to various Central Research Institutes. The National Rice Research Institute in Cuttack faced heavy loss. About 70 thousand varieties of rare paddy seed preserved in cold chamber is in danger.
